A Full Day of Touring Along the Rhine River- August 1, 2015

We started the day with a lovely German breakfast in our hotel. We had a window seat looking out at the river.

We took a few more pictures of the views from our hotel before leaving for the day.

Our first castle is Marksberg. We opted for the German tour with a book in English describing the rooms.

Our second castle of the day is the Stolzenfels. It's a hike up the hill on a paved path with lush forest around us.

We do not take a guided tour here. But we do wander around it and take pictures. It's much different than the others we've seen. The flowers here were gorgeous and I couldn't resist taking some photos. There was also a bride and groom up here getting pictures taken.

After touring these 2 castles, it's time for lunch. We head back to our town for lunch at the Anker Bistroraunt. It's a late lunch, around 3:30, and none too light. It really became our dinner.

I had schnitzel and fries, Mike had pork roast and spatzle.

Our next activity was a river cruise down to the wine fest at Bacarach, then back on the boat with fireworks along the way home.

That's our hotel behind me up on the hill.

More shots of our hotel from the river.

Just a selfie while we're cruising on the river.

In Bachcrach, the boats stopped here for 2 1/2 hours. They have a "wine fest" for the "cruisers". We skipped that and went exploring in town.

Since we weren't interested in the wine fest, we had ourselves an ice cream fest.

The boat ride home included fireworks at one of the stops to let off passengers. We got off the boat at 12:30 a.m.  It was quite the party boat. Lots of older Germans drinking tons of beer and dancing. We were amused by watching them.
