We did make it to the castle and found the tour quite interesting. The castle itself was quite bare inside, but there were framed descriptions in the rooms, and characters from Hamlet were roving the castle and grounds. They called it "Hamlet Live". The creepiest part were the underground casements. Think catacombs of Paris without the skeletons and darker, damper, and colder. I was glad when we came to the stairs taking us up and out!
After the castle, it was time to drive the rest of the way to Gothenburg, Sweden. In order to get there, however, we needed to take a ferry across The Sound. Talk about a super cool experience! It was a 10 minute trip, but was fun. We got out of the car and went upstairs where there was a snack bar, duty free shop, and lounges to sit. It kind of felt like a mini cruise ship.
Finding lunch was the next adventure. Out GPS navigation didn't take us through any towns so we had to pick an exit and try to find food. We followed a sign with a fork and spoon. This led us to a hotel and restaurant, but the place was locked up and we couldn't get in. But there were cars in the parking lot and two women left the building. Before we could talk to them they got in their cars and drove off. It was weird in a crazy way. We did, however find a supermarket. We bought a ham and cheese baguette, Pringles, two bakery cookies, a candy bar, a car and water for a lunch picnic. Who would have thought a picnic in a car could be so pleasant and delicious.
We arrived in Gothenburg in time for Mike to change his clothes and meet his work guys at 7:30 for dinner. Me, I'm on my own, chilling in the room and getting dinner on my own.
