Friday, October 21, 2016- Positano- Day 1

We slept in really late this morning. So late we missed breakfast which was served until 10:30. While I got ready to go to lunch, Mike took some great photos of our view. It's overcast and rainy so we're planning a low key day of sticking close to the hotel and exploring the town.

By the time we left the hotel for lunch, it was raining lightly so it was good they we had packed umbrellas.

We found a pizzeria...

We have to go down some steps and across a patio to get to the indoor seating.

After lunch we decided to continue walking down into the town. We enjoyed browsing in some really cute shops.  But then the rain started in earnest. Like a really hard downpour. Needless to say, even with umbrellas, we were getting drenched. We even heard some big claps of thunder.   It was clearly time for us to go back to our room.

We tried to stay a little drier by standing under a canopy until the downpour lessened. While there we had a lovely view of this church dome.

The rain turned these stairs into a waterfall.

I wasn't kidding about the rain really coming down hard!  In the next picture check out the water gushing out of the drain pipes.

After some relaxing at the hotel, Mike decided it was time for an afternoon snack. We walked back to the place where we had dinner last night for some gelato. We couldn't decide which flavor, so we went with the "mix" which was a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, and hazelnut. Yum!

Dinner tonight was delicious, but probably not as good as last night.

Dessert was a Lemon Sponge Cake. It was a bit too lemony for me.

Our first full day is in the books. The rain has stopped and the weather forecast for tomorrow looks lovely so it'll be a day for sightseeing.
